Clark Reed’s Vision for Rockville is Vibrant, Sustainable, and Bold

Clark Reed

The King Farm Candidate Forum last Tuesday was the last public opportunity that candidates for Rockville Mayor and Council could share their vision for Rockville and why they deserve your vote on Tuesday, November 3.  We’ll be sharing our closing statements as a series, starting with Clark Reed:

Tonight is the last debate of this election. I hope six debates have given you the information you need to confidently cast your ballots on November 3rd.

How will you choose amongst us?

I have heard from those who have watched prior debates remark that we have perhaps bored you by providing too much detail about past accomplishments. Okay, fair enough!

A successful track record is an important component but it’s not the only quality that makes a good candidate. Let me tell you what else counts.

Vision and character count, too.

When I listen to the other candidates, I hear some proudly boast that they have no agenda. Well that’s a copout. If a candidate truly has no agenda, then they have no vision for the city. And as someone once said, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.” Rockville should not be wandering aimlessly into the future. We need leaders with a common vision so that we can all be pulling in the same direction.

My vision for Rockville can be summed up with these words – vibrant, sustainable, and bold. To preserve our quality of life, we need a vibrant economy. We need to fix Town Center now and lay the groundwork for a stronger Rockville Pike. The most successful cities by mid-century will be the greenest ones, powered by clean energy, electric in transportation, and climate ready. They’ll have the highest paying jobs and the most competitive workforce. We can do this but we need bold people on the council who have the foresight to get us there.

Character counts, too. Let’s protect our city by rejecting candidates who demean this election with smears and lies because if they stoop to this level on the campaign, they will surely continue this behavior in office.

We need council members who will work collaboratively. That’s why I’m proud to be running with Team Rockville. Together, we have a wealth of experience, a common vision, and an ethic of service to the community.

Please cast your vote for Team Rockville candidates Sima, Virginia, Julie, Mark, and Clark.

Thank you.
